MAKES BIG CHANGES Jacquelyn Cook Kyle, PhD, and Rev. Shirl A.P. Solomon Appointed to Major Roles Within NTBS. New Partnership Announced With Renowned Builder Valerie Ballard
Dallas, TX – September 1, 2025 – Sam Allen, Chairman and Founder of North Texas Buffalo Soldier Inc., is pleased to announce the following organizational changes.
Said Sam Allen: "To intensify our focus on education, I announce the appointment of Jacquelyn Cook Kyle, PhD, as Director - Educational Outreach Initiatives. Dr. Kyle, a notable Texas educator and professor at UNT – Dallas campus, will lead efforts on curriculum and course development related to the Buffalo Soldier story. Additionally, she will continue strategic placements of screenings and panel discussions for the award-winning documentary by Lindell Singleton, Betrayal of Justice Buffalo: A Buffalo Soldier Story. As part of our commitment to engaging young women with the powerful values and ethos of the Buffalo Soldier way, I'm pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Shirl A. P. Solomon as Director of Social Media Campaigns/Youth Outreach. Shirl's blended background in leveraging media platforms to reach a new generation is ‘mission critical' to our 2026 strategic plan. Additionally, Shirl will direct engagement efforts, specifically targeting ‘at -risk’ teens in Fort Worth, Dallas and across Northern Texas. Both Dr. Kyle and Shirl will officially start their positions at North Texas Buffalo Soldier, Inc., on September 1.
“These appointments are essential to our organization as we move closer to the creation of a curated traveling exhibit and finalize our commitment to acquiring physical space to hold our extensive archives and collections, while providing a unique visitor experience,“ said Sam Allen.
Additionally, North Texas Buffalo Soldier, Inc., is finalizing a partnership with Valerie Ballard’s ‘Operation Tiny House’ organization to create Trail of Valor: A Buffalo Soldier legacy walking tour experience at their Dallas location.
